Crystal reiki is very good when you need comfort, energy, and support. If you feel tired, spacey, ungrounded, or feel stuck, Reiki can provide stress relief and a sense of balance. If you desire renewal, Reiki can offer enhanced energy to recharge and renew. If you are interested in spiritual growth, Reiki supports your beliefs and intentions.

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced “Ray-key”) is generally translated in Japanese as “Life-force.” REI means spirit or universal source. KI means energy, force, or breath of life. The Chinese “Chi” and the Hindu “Prana” have the same or similar meaning. The understanding is that energy permeates everywhere throughout the universe and is a part of everything. During a Reiki treatment, this energy flows through the practitioner and radiates out through the hands and into the body of the person receiving the treatment. The hands are placed in specific locations of the person’s body, which correspond to organs and glands. The energy enters these areas bringing a healing balance. While other healing modalities seek to identify and heal pain, Reiki allows the energy to flow and be the healer. Reiki is not used for diagnosis.

Where did Reiki come from?

Reiki originated in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui, a medical doctor, in the late 1800s. He was a kind man with a vast knowledge of medicine, psychology, and various religions. He had a spiritual experience that led to his establishing a healing technique he called, “Reiki,” and while he helped many people in his lifetime, he taught only a few students. From his students, Reiki came to Hawaii and then to the United States.

What does Reiki feel like?

Reiki feels relaxing and comforting. During a Reiki session, the practitioner places hands on the client’s body in a progressive sequence—for example, from head to foot—and concentrates on joints, spine, organs, glands, and any areas that need extra attention. Some people find that it is similar to a deep relaxing massage, where the body relaxes completely and the mind rests. Others find that it is rejuvenating, like a massage that stimulates the body with energy. Many people report both relaxation and rejuvenation.

How will I respond?

Some of the sensations you may experience are a deep relaxation, falling asleep, or having a vivid meditation. Some people report cessation of bodily pain during the session and for a period of time afterwards. Others feel warmth, coolness, or tingling. Some report nothing at all. The best approach, in my opinion, is to allow energy to flow through you, breath deep, and let yourself relax. Let the energy itself dictate your experience. Please try to avoid expectations, as each person is individual, and each experience unique.

What do you use in the sessions?

I use crystals, stones, visualizations, sounds, and sometimes essential oils to augment the energy. During the session, I describe reiki energy and how it moves through the body. I also provide verbal instructions to deepen your relaxation.

What are the Chakras and how do they respond?

There are seven main chakras in the torso of the body. These chakras are near the glands, such as adrenal grands, thyroid gland, and pituitary gland. Reiki provides energy to the chakras and glands and help rejuvenate a person. Sometimes chakras are blocked and if so, reiki energy helps open them, remove stagnations, and align the chakras with each other. Many people report that they feel renewed, refreshed, and balanced from this energy.

What do the crystals do?

Crystals are used to align energy in the chakras and body, much like a quartz crystal in a watch helps it run smoothly. In Crystal Reiki sessions, crystals are placed on and around the body such as over the heart and by the feet. I use an assortment of colors and tailor each session with a specific layout. Sometimes the color of the stone is related to the chakra such as using a green stone for the heart or a blue one for the throat. Some sessions require the use of only one color, others require more. Crystals facilitate energy movement, both clearing out stagnant energy and bringing in refreshing energy.
